Billing Policies
The
physicians of Southern Medical Group participate with the
Medicare program, Capital Health Plan, VISTA, United Health
Care, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida and a number of other
medical insurers.
Participation
can change from time to time. It is advisable to verify your
specific insurance with our office staff and your insurance
carrier.
We
file most insurance carriers we participate in.
If your insurance does not pay within 30 days we will
send you a bill, which is due and payable at that time.
Since insurance policies are an agreement between you
and the insurance company, you are responsible for making sure
that payments are sent to us in a timely manner.
We
will send Medicare patients a bill after we receive
Medicare's payment and any supplementary insurance if
applicable.
Statements
are sent out monthly. They
show all charges and payments posted to your account by the
date of mailing.
If
you do not have insurance to cover your charges, you will be
required to pay for your services when they are performed; or
in some cases, prior to.
Any co-payments or deductibles for charges not covered
by your insurance must be paid for at the time of service.
Before
you see your physician please tell the receptionist about any
changes in your address or insurance coverage.
It is important that we have accurate records so we can
contact you if there are any questions or concerns about your
health care. You
will be asked to update your information each time you
check-in for an appointment.
